when:     beginning April 12, 2014
time:       Saturdays 6:30 - 8:15 pm...(ish).
place:     The Olive Tree Bible Bookstore & Learning Center in Bonners Ferry, ID (7219 Main Stree in Historical Downtown)

registration:  currently open for summer course

This Ancient Hebrew class will be an 8-week course.  Class will meet each Saturday from 6:30 - 8:15 p.m. (-ish).  Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.  Our meeting place is The Olive Tree Bible Bookstore & Learning Center in Bonners Ferry, ID (please contact me for directions).

There will be seven weeks of lessons and one test (the eighth week).  The last week we will have a graduation party/kosher** potluck, where you can invite your family and friends to join in.

Please be aware that it is the student's responsibility to remember to show up for class on time.  Students who are ill or have an emergency will be given opportunity to make up a missed class and gain current notes.

This course is NOT where you go to learn conversational Hebrew.  It is a foundational teaching in the ancient script.  You will learn some history, the early Hebrew alphabet, the meaning of each letter, how these letters work in Holy Scripture, and you will learn your first basic words and roots.  There will be some biblical insights along the way (usually "aha" moments). We will briefly learn about the Feasts of YHWH, and the Modern alphabet will accompany the ancient characters.  There will be just a little homework.  This teaching will help encourage you toward a deeper, independent study of YHWH's Word in its original, Hebraic mindset.

Ages 10 and up are welcome to attend.  Parents, you know your children best, so I will leave it up to you to decide if this class is something they are ready for.  I do have a final exam made specifically for younger students.  As for younger children, your arrangement for a sitter is greatly appreciated.  Infants too young for sitters may accompany their mothers.

The registration form, class schedule and flyer can be accessed below in the attachments section.  Please check back to see if I have posted anything new.  Feel free to print these out and hand them to friends who might benefit from this course.  Post them on a bulletin board or hand them out at your home congregation.

On the topic of tuition: this is through suggested donation.  I would suggest $12 per class per person OR $84 per person for the whole course; $145 per married/betrothed couple, and families of 3+ add $1 per class per child OR $10 per course per child between the ages of 10 and 17.  For your convenience, you may make your donations via credit card or PayPal by clicking on "Make A Payment" (also on menu, above).  Or, you can write a check, making it out to Laura Compton or Priceless Creations, and sending it to PO Box 667, Bonners Ferry, ID   83805.  Cash is fine, too, if you plan on seeing me in person.  I will not accept any payments during sabbath (sunset Friday to sunset Saturday)--no exceptions.

Please note that I am teaching these courses independently and am not affiliated with any schools or universities.  These courses do not grant any college credits.  They are for your own personal growth and enjoyment.  Remember to leave your Greek mindset at the door, wipe your feet, have a seat, and enjoy this time of learning.

*Suggested donation--sorry, not tax deductible.
**kosher--see Leviticus 11--Kosher animals that are meant as food:  any animal having both completely cloven hooves and chews the cud; any water creature having both fins and scales; birds such as chicken, turkey, grouse, duck, pheasant and goose.  Some examples of animals that are not meant as food:  bear, cat, dog, horse, ostrich, seagul, birds of prey, shellfish, crustaceans, camels, swine, rabbit, squirrel and badger (that's thrown in for all of the Bonners Ferry-ites).
***YHWH-- this is the 4-letter name of the Father.   We will learn more about the Sacred Name in class.
